Love really knows no boundaries – especially when it comes to true feelings between two hearts. More and more Ukrainian couples choose Poland for their wedding, registration or official marriage registration. Some found love here, in Warsaw, Krakow or another Polish city. Some came from Ukraine to their chosen one. And some just dream of saying the cherished “yes” in a cozy European atmosphere.
If you are a citizen of Ukraine and are wondering how to register your marriage in Poland, we have collected all the key information: what to prepare, what documents are needed and where to go so that the marriage registration goes smoothly and without stress.

Where can I get married in Poland?
For Ukrainians, as well as for other foreign citizens, there are various options for getting married in Poland:
Civil marriage registration — at any registry office (Urząd Stanu Cywilnego);
Church wedding — with the possibility of state registration (if the relevant documents are prepared);
Off-site registration — outdoors, by a lake, in a castle or any other beautiful place (subject to agreement with the registry office administration).
What documents do Ukrainians need for registration?
Here is the basic list of documents that will be needed for marriage registration in Poland:
- International passport;
- Birth certificate with an apostille and official translation into Polish;
- Certificate of marital status (confirmation that you are not married) — also with an apostille and translation;
- Application for intent to marry — filled out directly at the registry office.
Important: documents can be submitted in person or by proxy. If you are not sure where to start, it is better to consult with specialists – this will help to avoid mistakes and delays in the registration process.
Terms and cost of marriage registration
The waiting period for the wedding after filing an application is usually about a month. In special cases, it can be shortened (for example, in case of pregnancy or other valid reasons).
As for the cost:
Standard state fee – about 84 PLN;
Additional costs – document translations, notary services, apostilles, as well as possible costs for an off-site ceremony.
